The Answer is.A The Council of Carthage condemned the idea that newborns must wait until the 8th day after birth to be baptized (in the tradition of circumcision). (See Letter 64 (59), 2 by St. Cyprian of Carthage. Rather, babies were allowed to be baptized right away.

In 244 A.D., Origen wrote: the Church received from the apostles the tradition of giving baptism also to infants. (Commentary on Romans 5, 9)

In 215 A.D., Hippolytus of Rome wrote: Baptize first the children; and if they can speak for themselves, let them do so. Otherwise, let their parents or other relatives speak for them. (The Apostolic Tradition 21)
